Burger contender?

So many hamburgers are competing for attention but the Huxtaburger stands above the crowd. No door-stoppers that need wooden skewers to hold them together, these American-style sliders ($8) are straight out of a 1950s diner. I’m not sure if it’s the super-soft glazed bun, nicely buttered inside and perfect for soaking up all the juices, or the still-pink pattie made with Moondarra wagyu, or that burger-beautifying combination of mustard, tomato sauce, pickles, mayo and cheese. But oh yes, they’re a mighty good burger. I’m particularly fond of the Denise, too, named after the Cosby Show’s resident hottie and made with jalapeno and sriracha mayo. It’s $9, although at this neat and petite, you may have to order two - Larissa Dubecki. Photograph by John Laurie. Huxtaburger, 106 Smith Street, Collingwood 9417 6328
